Day 1: Arusha to Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Continue a steady climb through the montane forest. You can have your lunch at the famous? Fig tree? After lunch, the trek continues through less dense forest, where there are lots of birds and monkeys including the black and white colobus. By mid-afternoon, you will have your first close views of the towering cliffs and the Ash Cone. Miriakamba Hut, situated in idyllic grassy glade, is reached in time to enjoy the afternoon sun and beautiful views over the surrounding plains towards Kilimanjaro.

Day 2: Hike Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut, afternoon hike up Little Meru

Day two of 4 Days Mount Meru Climb,The walk from Miriakamba Hut to the saddle below Little Meru is a steep sustained climb all the way. Starting through beautiful and lush montane forest, the path continues beyond the halfway point of Elephant Back Ridge and carries on uphill through the giant heather and other moorland vegetation to reach Saddle Hut for lunch. In the afternoon, you can make the short climb to the nearby summit of Little Meru (3,820 m / 12,533 ft) for superb views. It takes about 1 hour to walk up and 30 minutes to walk down. The ascent is 1,056 m / 3,465 ft.

Day 3: Summit and down to Miriakamba Hut

Day three of 4 Days Mount Meru Climb, Summit day has an early start at around 12:00AM. There is a 1 hour steep climb to Rhino Point (3,800m / 12,467ft), then the path continues along a ridge of ash and rock to reach Cobra Point (4,350m / 14,272ft). The summit of Socialist Peak (4,566 m) is an hour further on a steep path with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro. Depending on your speed, you can enjoy sunrise at Cobra Point or the summit. The views are stunning: the cliffs of the Crater rim, the Ash Cone rising from the crater floor, Kilimanjaro floating on the morning clouds, and the Rift Valley.

The route back to Rhino Point in the sharp morning light along a narrow ridge between the sloping outer wall of the crater and the sheer cliffs of the inner wall is one of the most dramatic and exhilarating walks in Africa. Brunch and a brief rest is taken at Saddle Hut before continuing the descent to Miriakamba Hut. NOTE: For an easier climb, you can start the trek at 05:00 A.M., hike for about 1 hour, and enjoy sunrise at Rhino Point before going back to Saddle Hut for breakfast and then descending. Kilimanjaro Hiking

The Northern Circuit is the newest and longest route on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering one of the most scenic, peaceful, and rewarding trekking experiences on the mountain. The journey begins at Londorossi Gate on Kilimanjaro’s western side, following the famous Lemosho Route through lush rainforest and across the breathtaking Shira Plateau. After reaching the Lava Tower area, the trail branches away from the busy southern routes and enters the remote northern slopes, where climbers enjoy a quieter and more exclusive adventure surrounded by incredible wilderness and panoramic mountain views.

Known for its excellent acclimatization profile, the Northern Circuit gradually circles around the northern side of Mount Kilimanjaro toward the eastern approach, giving climbers more time to adapt to the altitude and greatly improving summit success rates. Because it is the longest route on the mountain, the trek usually takes eight to nine days, allowing for a slower, more comfortable ascent and a more enjoyable overall experience. Whether choosing the standard eight-day itinerary or a longer climb with extra acclimatization time, the Northern Circuit with Mylo Africa Safaris offers an unforgettable journey to the Roof of Africa.

Kilimanjaro Hiking

The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border, offering a quieter, more remote, and less crowded trekking experience. This route is ideal for climbers looking for a peaceful adventure away from the busier southern trails while still enjoying the beauty and challenge of Africa’s highest mountain. The northern side of Kilimanjaro also receives less rainfall, making the Rongai Route an excellent option during the rainy season and a reliable choice throughout the year.

The route typically takes six to seven days, with the seven-day itinerary highly recommended for better acclimatization and a higher chance of reaching the summit successfully. Although the scenery is slightly less diverse compared to western routes, Rongai offers beautiful wilderness landscapes, open moorlands, and a true sense of isolation on the mountain. The trail eventually joins the Marangu Route at Kibo Camp before the final summit push to Uhuru Peak, while the descent follows the Marangu Route. With its gradual ascent and moderate difficulty level, the Rongai Route with Mylo Africa Safaris is perfect for climbers seeking a comfortable, scenic, and unforgettable Kilimanjaro experience.
